Really nice ride!

September 15, 2011

This is a really nice bike for the money. In deciding which bike I should get, I budgeted $500 and looked at bikes from $89 box store throw-aways to $1000+ custom bikes at local bike shops. The final decision came down to money as I wanted something inexpensive for a high bike theft / vandalism area. This bike was in the end the best price with the features that I need/want. This is a great bike for the money. Things you won’t do on this bike- -tour de france -road races -climb the Tetons -look like the coolest kid on your block Things you will do on this bike- -get there and back again -carry enough gear to have a good time once you get there -not worry about someone cutting your lock in the commuter lot I added this review as there is only one review on the Schwinn site and I believe that the poster received a bum bike from a less than reputable seller. I ordered from Amazon, got the bike on time and in great shape. In fact, once assembled, it was nearly perfectly tuned (only needed to tweak stem alignment and re-center brakes.) This bike is perfect for what I wanted: mile or so ride to the train in the morning, some bike paths on the weekend and the occasional day trip (hibachi and cooler strapped to the rear rack, gear stuffed in panniers (sold separately). And big fellas, this may be the bike for you. 6’1” 270 most bikes feel like they are going to break when I sit on them, this one is solid! The plastic fenders look a little cheap compared to the rest of the bike (which looks as good as any bike out there) but with the $200 I saved in buying this bike (compare to another respected brand of 7 speed, then add fenders and a rack I can upgrade them if they ever stop keeping the puddles off of me. Anyway, thank you Pacific Cycle! Great bike great value. Highly recommended.

Nothin' but trouble

August 29, 2011

This bike has been a problem from the day it arrived. The rear wheel has blown no less than 6 tubes- it will not hold air pressure. Which makes it unreliable and impossible to use. Also, when it arrived, the rear wheel was so badly out of true that it would not rotate in the frame to correct the issues. Cannot recommend this model bike. It has fatal quality control and operating issues.
