if you bought your bike at wal mart it was assembled there... by a 3rd party contractor, or by the 16 year old stock boy. even the super exspensive walmart bikes are crap and anybody who buiys a wal mart bike deserves having it fall apart. or buy it in the box and build it yourself. dont blame schwinn because you are a cheapo.

I bought this bike at Walmart. When I took my first ride, the main pedal bearing assembly fell apart. It failed because the threads that hold the bearing retaining nuts were completely stripped. The worst part is that whomever assembled the bike had to know that the bike was defective and processed it for sale anyway. Do you want to own a product made by people like that? I don't. I realize everything is made in China, but it's still a shame that the brand Schwinn is now just cheap Chinese junk like everthing else.

"Made in China" is the battle cry of the ignorant. Guess what, go look in your local bikeshop and tell me where all the bikes up to $2000 are made. Turn your laptops and computers and TVs over and tell me where they're made. I own a Schwinn Point Beach. Bought it at Walmart 3 years ago. Works fine to me. It's called, "Knowing how to maintain a bike." If you don't know how, find a bike shop. That's why they exist.

If you thought you were going to get a 500 dollar bike for a hundred, then who made the boo boo? I have put 860 miles on mine this summer so far, and have only done routine maint. on it... It is a 3 year old Jaguar... appears to be the same bike.. It was 100 bucks at Target.

cables rust in first week, spokes start breaking in 6 months. made in china out of poor quality materials. You get what you pay for!!! If a cheap Schwinn was $169 in 1978, then how could anyone expect to get a good bike for less then $500 in 2011????

I bought 3 other cruisers and they just felt inefficent in changing gears when needed and just made the ride tollerable. I took them all back and tried a friends Lakshore and saw and felt a great improvement in the smoothness of the shifting and the peddling. It's hilly here those low gears really take a bite out of the effort. So, I bought one and have been happy with it every since. Like the retro look too.

i like this bike , got my first cruiser when I was 10 years old back in 69 longbeach calif. I was born there . I had a69 beach cruiser 5 speed I would like to get another one . can`t find one ! this is close to it , mine was stolen back in july 2010
