Comments about schwinn 4 One One 1:

I won my 4 ONE ONE 1 as a prize in Schwinn's Ride of a Lifetime sweepstakes in Summer of 2012. I selected the bike specifically to take to Ocean City, Maryland for vacation use. The integrated basket is small but useful for the beach and the Sturmey-Archer internal 5 speed is perfect for the mostly level terrain and maintaining appropriate speed in the bike lane, and riding the boardwalk. The bike is very light, and corners and brakes like a race car. The only drawback is the steel brake rotors are prone to rust in the salt air and can become noisy.

Comments about schwinn 4 One One 1:

bought this for commuting around town and exercise. The internal hub was very difficult to adjust. slippage was experienced in the shifting. Very hard to shift. You must shift with no load.

returned bike after 6 weeks when crank pedal fell off. Ordered the 411 three. No internal hub. hope its assembled properly

Comments about schwinn 4 One One 1:

I'm on my second Sturmey Archer Hub. Support has been great but something that constantly slips is a pain. Support says I should check once a week.

Wish I would have gotten the 4one one 2.

Comments about schwinn 4 One One 1:

Bought this for myself a few months back, looking for a good year-round, all-around ride. After checking lots of different bikes, I went with this one. I happen to love this frame design, very unique. The bike rides surprisingly smooth for aluminum, and it handles very predictably. Easily maneuverable in Chicago traffic. SA hub needed a little adjustment, but now works great (and I happen to like the 'tick'tick tick' sound it makes). The disc brakes, while a bit noisy, work extremely well, far better than rim brakes, especially in inclement weather. On mine (which is, admittedly, a 2012 model), I was surprised to see Schrader valves poking through the rim! I don't mind em, and it's nice in case you need to top off at a gas station and don't have a presta adapter on you. I had a plan in mind when I bought the bike, and since my purchase I have added SKS fenders (this bike looks mean with black fenders), a set of Oval Concepts drop bars with Cane Creek aero levers and cross-levers, a Fizik Nisene saddle, and removed the chain tensioner (wasn't needed, and was terribly noisy). It's now a perfect (for me) combo of road bike and commuter bike. After over 400 miles, I can't say enough good things about this bike.
