A series of five major, multi-sport Tour events, the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour boasts the biggest competitive purse in action sports, a Million-Dollar Bonus Pool based upon year-end standings, and the largest network and cable television broadcasting commitment ever. In addition to the primary sports of skateboarding, BMX, and freestyle motocross, each tour stop will feature a unique specialty comp, such as snowboarding or wakeboarding.
Key lifestyle elements at each Tour event will include live cutting-edge music, video gaming, and interactive events. The Tour was announced last March and is owned and operated by NBC Sports and Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports.
As associate sponsors, Mongoose, Schwinn and GT will receive Tour-wide category exclusivity and fully integrated marketing benefits, including television ads, print promotion, event signage and branding, online assets, grassroots marketing elements, hospitality, and inclusion in the Tours multi-million dollar marketing campaign.
Mongoose, Schwinn and GT live and breathe action sports every day, and they are highly respected and credible brands in this space, said Wade Martin, General Manager of the Dew Action Sports Tour. Their BMX team riders are among the best in the world, and will be among the top competitors on the Dew Action Sports Tour.
Mongoose, Schwinn and GT have each supported the cycling community and its athletes for several years, and are among the most recognized and respected bicycle brands in the world.
Todays event landscape lacks the consistent infrastructure of pro and amateur/grassroots events needed to propel our sports to the next level, said Travis Chipres, Director of Sports Marketing, Mongoose, Schwinn, GT. Whats exciting about the Dew Action Sports Tour is that it fills that void by spotlighting todays stars and providing a season-long event series at both the pro and grassroots levels.
The Dew Action Sports Tour schedule and title sponsors of each event are as follows (official names of each event will be announced at a later date):
