Even after a recent broken collarbone, TJ amazed everyone by winning a bronze medal at the X Games, said Travis Chipres, Sports Marketing Director for Schwinn. Hes won gold at Gravity Games before and I think hes going to show the world he has ability to win anytime, anywhere.
Big Tom has a great combination of guts and strength, and were looking for a strong showing from him at the Gravity Games, continued Chipres. Its going to be fun to watch.
Schwinn riders will be signing autographs at the event and kids can ride Schwinn bikes on the on-dirt demo BMX track on Fri., Sat. and Sun. Schwinn will provide helmets and bikes.
The Gravity Games is the premier action sports, music and lifestyle festival that will take place in Cleveland, Sept. 15-19, 2004.
Entering its sixth year, the Gravity Games in 2004 will feature the world's best professional action sports athletes competing across various disciplines. The bike disciplines include:
Street contests incorporate skills from all types of riding -Vert, Dirt, and Flatland. Riders take runs through a skatepark-style street course and are judged based on the overall impression of each run. Difficulty of tricks is rewarded, as is flow, speed, and variety.
Athletes ride a half-pipe ramp where they are judged on overall impression. Huge airs and burly tricks are rewarded. As Vert riding evolves, fast, clean riding that flows all over the ramp is gaining greater importance. Bike Vert is always one of the most popular competitions at every event.
Dirt riders compete on a dirt course designed to mimic trails. The riders are judged on overall impression that encompasses style, difficulty and flow. Unique transfer lines are also rewarded.
