DIY Snowflake Mobile Decoration

Lately we have been getting a bit crafty here at Schwinn. With our recent trips to renegade and the spirit of the Holidays in full swing it seemed time to give it a go and try getting craft ourselves; after all we do have the spare bicycle parts laying around! But we wanted you to share in the fun too! This holiday season we created four tutorials with step by step directions so you can recreate all the projects too!

Snowflake Mobile Holiday Decoration:

This snowflake mobile is a great way to get the family together while also creating a fun bicycle themed decoration. You can use a wheel that is no longer usable or just use one from a bike that is currently on holiday. This project will not damage the wheel in any way, so when the season is over you can go out and ride on it once again.

For this project you will need:

White printing paper,

Sewing thread in white,

A bicycle wheel,

Step 1. Cut out small squares from your printing paper. I kept my squares around 3" x 3" or 4" x 4", but feel free to use what ever sizes you want.

Step 2. Cut out a lot of snowflakes. I mean you need around 60 snowflakes depending on your wheel size. The way I determined what I needed was by counting the number of spokes on the wheel and adding that to the number of free spaces between each spoke and that is the number of snowflakes you need. (The picture to the left illustrates those areas on the wheel.)

Step 3. Tie one end of the snow flakes onto the wheel areas listed above. So there should be one snow flak on each spoke and one snowflake better each.

Step 4. Hang your mobile (you may have to untangle it a bit) and enjoy!
