Riding New York City

When I was first presented with the opportunity of working with Schwinn, I thought about what biking really meant to me. Living in the hustle and bustle of New York City, biking gives me the freedom of an easy commute, it’s a way to get exercise throughout the day and an endless way to discover new things in this amazing city.

Many people are shocked when I tell them that I ride in the city, since it really can be a chaotic and dangerous place, with taxi doors flinging open and pedestrians darting out into the crosswalk. However, time and time again I explain to them that as long as you’re cautious and aware of these dangers, then you will enjoy your ride in the best city in the world.

My advice to new city bikers is always the same; plan your route if you’re a beginner, stay in the bike lanes as much as possible, and make sure you have a loud bell, it will quickly become your best friend.

I’ve been immensely enjoying my Schwinn Traveler, it’s quite comfortable and the ride is smooth. I’m also obsessed with the light blue color, which seems to go with all of
my outfits! But if you’re visiting or don’t have a bike yet in Manhattan and just want to test the waters, I suggest renting a Citi Bike, the city’s bike sharing system to explore Manhattan.
