Ride with Pride

Drew Kries

Raise those rainbow flags high – it’s Pride Month! There are lots of ways to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, but our favorite way is with a Pride Ride (surprise, surprise).

Pride Rides are just like they sound: cyclists gathered together for a bike ride in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. Open to beginners and pros alike, these rides are often designed to go by landmarks of LGBTQ+ interest and provide a great way to learn more about LGBTQ+ history and culture in the area.

But that’s not all. Pride Rides often include parties either before or after (or both!). From a pre-ride mood-boosting warm-up to a post-ride picnic, Pride Rides find all sorts of ways to keep the celebration going.

Most organized Pride Rides take place around major cities, like New York, Chicago, and San Antonio. But don’t let distance stop you – if there isn’t already a Pride Ride in your area, we encourage you to get one started! You could even use the event to raise money for local LGBTQ+ organizations and charities.

By way of example, we’re organizing our very own Pride Ride at Schwinn headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin. We’ve invited our team members to go on a group ride around town and enjoy a fantastic lunch (and cupcakes!) supporting local LGBTQ+ businesses. Plus, we’re creating community with our Schwinn Pride t-shirts, made specially for the occasion. It’s a great way to celebrate and support our local LGBTQ+ community.

So, what do you need to participate in a Pride Ride? Some Pride Rides are free, while others charge a small fee to participate. Some may also have a t-shirt to wear for the ride. But other than that, all you need is a bike, a helmet, maybe a water bottle, and plenty of energy. (Oh, and sunscreen. Very important.)

No matter how you choose to celebrate Pride Month, we hope you have a fun, fabulous, and safe time. We can’t wait to see all your homegrown Pride Ride pictures on social media. And always remember that at Schwinn, all riders are welcome.

We’ll see you out there!

Schwinn - All riders welcome.
